Products
Your products, units, measuring methods and prices.
The Products tab is your shop's list of what it sells, what it costs and how each item is measured. MillOS prices from this list and never changes it.
Everyone in the Workspace can read the list. Estimators, admins and owners can add, edit and remove products and categories. Admins and owners can also import a file and delete several products at once.
Find a product
- Search name, code or notes at the top of the list.
- Use the category chips to narrow the list. All shows everything, and you can pick several categories.
- The status chips Needs a method, Sample rate and Stale price each show a count. Choose one to see only those products.
The footer shows how many products you have, or how many are shown while a filter is on.
The list
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and spec | The product and its description. |
| Unit | LF, SF or EA. |
| Measuring method | How Takeoff Studio measures it. |
| Rate | The rate at your Workspace's price level, the one MillOS reads. |
| Source | Where the rate came from. |
| Price as of | The day the rate was quoted or last confirmed. |
Products sit in collapsible category groups. A new Workspace starts with a sample library of 67 products in 7 categories, with sample rates for you to replace with your own.
Add a product
Choose Add product. The window reads "One line in your list. The Expert prices from its name, unit and notes."
Enter the Name, for example a base cabinet in plastic laminate. MillOS makes its code from the name, and the code never changes.
Pick a Category, or choose New category... to name one.
Choose the Measuring method. The method decides the unit:
- Count each one (EA)
- Trace the face of the run (LF)
- Trace the run, priced by its depth (SF)
- Trace the wall, priced by its height (SF)
- Outline the shape on the plan (SF)
Enter the rates under Rates per and the unit: Budget, Average and Premium. The rate for your Workspace's price level is the one MillOS reads, and the other two are kept for a change of level.
Optionally add a CSI division, a Source basis, Price as of, and notes on how to measure it and what the rate includes. MillOS reads the notes on every run.
Press Command or Ctrl with Enter to save, or Escape to close without saving.
Categories
Choose Add category to name a new one. Use the pencil to rename a category, and the X to remove it once it holds no products.
Edit and remove
Choose a product to see its detail: how it is sold and measured, its rate and the other two tiers, and Where the price comes from. From there you can Edit it, Mark as reviewed, Add condition from this (which opens Takeoff Studio with the product ready), or Remove from list.
A removed product goes to the Removed list, where Restore brings it back. MillOS shows Undo right after you remove one.
