Questions and RFIs
The RFI log
Keep a log of requests for information.
An RFI is a request for information. In Takeoff Studio, the RFIs panel keeps a log of the questions you raise from the drawing, so every open question has an owner and a date.
Raise a question
Select a markup on the drawing.
Choose Raise a question at the top of the RFIs panel.
Fill in the details and save it.
Find a question
Use Status to show All, Open, Answered, Closed or Void, and Asked of to show Anyone, Our estimator or Contractor or design team. Questions for your estimator are numbered with a Q, and questions for the contractor or design team are numbered as RFIs.
What an RFI records
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Subject and Description | What you are asking. |
| Status | Where the question stands. |
| Asked of | Who has to answer. |
| Created by | Who raised it. A question MillOS drafted is marked Draft until you choose Make it mine. |
| Relates to | The markup it belongs to, with Show on the drawing. |
| Priority | Low, normal or high. |
| Ball in court | Who has to act next, such as the architect or the general contractor. |
| Opened and Response date | When it was raised and when it was answered. |
| Changes cost and Changes schedule | Tick these when the answer affects the price or the timeline. |
| Response | The answer. |
Close it out
Close a question once it is settled, or Void one you no longer need. Delete removes an RFI, and Keep cancels the deletion.
